Chevrolet debuted the SS option in their full-size Impala in 1961 and the concept took off in 1962. Exterior visual elements of the Super Sport model featured convertible roof styling, additional chrome trim and an engine-turned aluminum-and-chrome panel to house the triple-unit taillight assemblies. This special trim was also used to fill the side moldings, giving the SS model a distinctive appearance. Our 1962 Impala Super Sport is a great example of one of Chevrolet's best looking full-size models, striking from any angle. The restoration process was highly documented with pictures. During the restoration it received a time period correct 327-cubic inch V8 engine with correct manifolds and a 4-barrel carb, all mated to the 4-speed manual transmission. Producing 300hp and you'll hear it just perfectly out of the correct dual exhaust pipes. Inside features include an all new bright red interior with correct SS center console, dash and gauges. The AM radio links to the dual rear mounted antennas that helped give the Impala its signature rear stance. The finishing touches are the correct SS wheel covers and whitewall tires.
